On todays program Ken Thornberg from Freedom Encounters http://www.freedomencounters.com joins me to begin our week by addressing the issue of personal freedom. Jesus said that He came to set the captives free. He who Jesus sets free is free indeed. On todays program we discuss oppression and demonization. What does it look like and how can we overcome these issues. Before we can overcome we must understand how the enemy has created a strategy against us to keep us from fulfilling our purpose and God’s purpose for our lives. How do our generational relationships impact our lives from conception? Do we need training in how to fight this fight? Tune in a learn how to walk in real victory.
After my interview with Ken I will offer a view brief comments on some issues that are really important to me and that I believe will be important to you. On the second half hour I will be joined by Justin Butterfield, Esq. of Liberty Institute. Justin graduated from Harvard Law School in 2007. During his time at Harvard, Mr. Butterfield served as the student coordinator for the Veritas Forum, was a member of the Federalist Society, and was heavily involved with the Harvard Law School Christian Fellowship. He is also a Blackstone Fellow. A native Texan, Mr. Butterfield completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at El Paso where he graduated summa cum laude, with honors, and University Banner Bearer with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
In addition to his practice in the area of religious liberty, Mr. Butterfield co-authored two scholarly articles: “The Light of Accountability: Why Partisan Elections Are the Best Method of Judicial Selection,” published in The Advocate, and “The Parsonage Exemption Deserves Broad Protection,” published in the Texas Journal of Law and Public Policy.
On today’s program we will discuss the HHS Mandate and the Hobby Lobby/Conestoga Wood cases. Liberty Institute is filing a brief on behalf of the Obama care law that forces employers against their religious beliefs and their conscience objections to pay for abortion procedures through the mandatory medical coverage they must provide. What has the court said so far and how is this fight being fought?
When the government begins to tell people how they can spend their money, where they can shop or demands that we share our hard earned money and pay for services that we consider to be immoral, what we must believe and how we can or can not act out our faith, then we must begin to ask what our responsibility is in this. This government was established as serving the people and yet over and over we are watching the will of the people be trampled and we are told it is because the will of the people is unconstitutional. As though the government has replaced the people as parent. As though the government has replaced God as the all knowing and all powerful. This is not the form of government our founders envisioned or left to us to defend. This is not the outline they created for us to follow.
At the end of the day when I stand before my God I do not want Him to ask me what did you do with the world that I sent my Son to die for and redeem. How did you fight the good fight to share the good news and keep evil in check? How did you shine your light and be a beacon of truth in the darkness? Did you shrink back in fear when they demanded you change My message? Did you call evil good and good evil? Did you forsake my love for that of another, lying with the adulterer and setting up a new idol in your life? Have you defiled yourself through compromise and tolerance of that which I call an abomination? Have you innocent blood on your hands for the children murdered on your watch and the young ones perverted in their way by evil men seeking their own comfort and reviling Me? NO. At the end of the day I want Him to simply say the evidence is in, Well done thou good and faithful servant. I love my God and I love His creation and I will go to my grave telling the world that evil is evil and only God is good and Jesus came to save the world. That no matter the evil in the world I will never give up and in spite of the hate I will love in truth. Will you join me?
