Will you be part of the Chosen Generation?

I am looking for one hundred people who will commit to support this ministry with a $100 a month pledge. I have recently met with representatives of Salem Broadcasting in San Antonio Texas who have expressed that they would like to carry Chosen Generation and A Dose of the Ghost on their station. The initial air times are absolutely amazing. I am not at liberty to say when they would be but I can tell you I would be incredibly excited to be on air at both of these times. Chosen Generation is looking at a daily program and Dose of the Ghost would be weekly. These opportunities will not take me off air in Kerrville but rather would be the first step in expanding the shows audiences. Each step requires a greater financial commitment and that is why I am asking for 100 to give $100.

I am posting here an explanation of what the show is about and would encourage you to tune in if you have never heard it. No one is doing what this show is doing from the perspective we are doing it. Thank you for your consideration. You can donate at the web site or by sending a check payable to Family Christian Center to PO Box 3393 Bandera Texas 78003. God bless you!!

My name is Pastor Greg Young and I do a radio show called Chosen Generation, which airs on KERV 1230 AM in Kerrville, Texas at 10 AM CST Sunday thru Friday. I do the show live Monday thru Friday and there is an encore of the show which airs at 11 PM CST each night and also on Sunday mornings at 10 AM CST. I also do a Christian Rock show called A Dose of the Ghost on KRVL 94.3 FM The Rev at 8 AM Sunday mornings.

Some have said that Christians have no business being in politics. That Christianity does not belong in political conversation. They propose a separation of Church and State, and even go so far as to opin that there is no precedent for such intrusion by the “church”. I disagree. The bible teaches that Jesus confronted the religious leaders of His day. These men were not just religious leaders but they were governing the affairs of the people of Israel. Jesus challenged their moral standard, temple worship and their political power.
John 11:46 But some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them what things Jesus had done . 47 Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said , What do we ? for this man doeth many miracles. 48 If we let him thus alone , all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.

Lets look at John the Baptist who called out the King on his affair with his brothers wife. For this he was beheaded. Each of the disciples, except Judas Iscariot, was put to death because of Rome’s belief that these men posed a direct threat to their political power and allegiance to the Caesar.

This is biblical evidence to support our involvement in the process in the New Testament. The old testament is filled with examples of God’s plan for His people to be involved in government and in raising up righteous leaders in order to enjoy His blessings. In fact the Abrahamic covenant begins specifically with the promise that God would raise up nations and kings from Abraham. (Genesis 17) In order for their to be a nation it must have leadership and that leadership is supposed to be filled by those who are of the Abrahamic covenant of which Christians are now a part through Jesus Christ. (Galatians 3:29)

Then there is the very heritage of America from the Mayflower Compact which clearly states the purpose of the pilgrims voyage to America, to the Black Robe Regiment, which preached the founding principles we find in our Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights and Constitution, to the thousands of letters and personal documents which clearly identify that they intended that Christianity be the bedrock upon which this nation must stand, upon which it could only stand.
These firm examples bolstered my desire to start Chosen Generation Radio. I felt and still feel very strongly that the Hill Country and Texans as a whole need to be awakened to the fact that Texas is going the way of California. It may be five or ten years but it is happening. This has been really brought to light by the events earlier this month in the capitol, when pro abortionists hired lobbyists to disrupt the Senate vote at the end of the first extended session and the leadership did next to nothing to stop it. We are now looking at a third session of the 83rd Legislature because of men like Joe Strauss, who profess to be Republican. Strauss has a history of delaying true conservative Christian valued legislature and punishing those that try to put it through. He was conspicuously absent when I attended the Stand4Life rally on Monday July 8th before the House Vote. Could be his wife’s relationship to Planned Parenthood?

This is even more alarming considering the recent vow by the Mayor of San Antonio to Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC, when he said , “The question is not if Texas is going to become a competitive state, and eventually a blue state, the question really is just when.”

Here are a few headlines regarding issues that are already effecting Christian business owners across this nation.

Meanwhile, the American Academy of Pediatrics is warning its members against “heterosexism,” defined as “the social expectation that heterosexuality is the expected norm.” Doctors are encouraged to post a “rainbow” decal on an office door or bulletin board, and display brochures with pictures of “both same- and opposite-gender couples.” They are not to ask a boy about his girlfriend, but to ask about his “partner” instead.

The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities takes away the right of Parents to direct the upbringing of their disabled child and turns that over to a foreign bureaucrat, who will decide what is in the best interest of the child. The U.S. Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee has just announced that there will be a hearing on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on June 4! The Senate needs to hear from you immediately that this already defeated UN treaty must not be ratified by the U.S. Senate.
The United States Senate must protect our domestic sovereignty and the care of children with disabilities from unelected, unaccountable UN bureaucrats. Parents know best how to care for their children with disabilities. U.S. law is currently the gold standard for ensuring that people with disabilities are protected and able to participate in all areas of U.S. Society. (Note we were part of stopping this through calls made by listeners to our show)

This is why educating people is so important, here are cases where our freedoms are being attacked by this administration;
Just to round things out, here are three other cases Ilya mentions but presumably lacks room to elaborate on, which enhance his point about Obama’s expansive-government legal theories:
(1) Hosanna-Tabor Church v. EEOC: The court rejected, 9-0, the Obama administration’s assertion that it can apply regular labor laws to churches, determining whom they can or should employ as ministers.
(2) U.S. v. Jones: Another 9-0 ruling that law enforcement cannot monitor your car’s location by secretly placing a GPS device on it without a warrant.
(3) Sackett v. EPA: The Obama administration argued that it could indefinitely prevent a family from building on its land by designating it a protected area under the Clean Water Act, while not actually bringing an enforcement action against them. The Court ruled 9-0 in favor of the Sackett family.

Here is what happens when people are educated and empowered;

Finally here is a story that speaks to how far this President is from who America truly is.
Shameful: Even Putin calls to end Christian persecution, as Obama is ‘silent’

These articles represent attacks against Christianity in schools, in the military, police forces, in homeschooling and in simply choosing how to raise your children.

I realize that everyone can not be out everyday sounding the alarm and spreading the word, that is why I am doing the radio show. To share and educate and bring about a change to a Godly nation once again. I am bringing on great guests to help with the dissemination of truth from a biblical perspective. Here is a partial list of those guests:

Dr James Dobson
Dr Jerry Newcombe, Truth in Action Ministries
Brigitte Gabriel, Act for America
Dr Ken “Hutch” Hutcherson
Tim Barton, Wall Builders.org
Bryan Fischer, American Family Association
Will Estrada, Parental Rights.org and HSLDA
Lt General (Ret) Jerry Boykin, Peter Sprigg, Ken Klukowski, Anna Higgins and Kathy Ruse of Family Research Council
Twila Brase, Citizens Council for Health Freedom
Peter Labarbera, Americans for the truth about Homosexuality
David Smith of Illinois Family Institute
Texas State Senator Kyle Hancock
Texas House Member Steve Toth
Craig Cosgray, President, Tea Parties of Texas
Jeremy Tedesco, Alliance Defending Freedom
Dr Donald May
Rick and Jana Malm, CTEN Ministries
Daniel Kalenda, Christ For All Nations
Dr Alex McFarland
Dr Richard Land
Evangelist Nick Hall

These are a few of the guests I have had. I also have two weekly guests in Dan Gainor of Media Research Center and Jennifer LeClair, News Editor for Charisma Magazine. I also have two daily features, Answers in Genesis with Ken Hamm and Health Freedom Minute with Twila Brase. I also include a periodic Freedom Minute with David Barton.

What makes Chosen Generation unique is its by line, No topic is off limits and everything is filtered through biblical glasses. This focus on identifying the issues and bringing in a solution that brings the bible unapologetically to the front and center in a common sense way is gaining a loyal audience.

This endeavor costs money as I have to pay for the air time to get this message out. That is where Christian business people such as yourselves become involved. Your sponsorship whether through advertising or donations make it possible for me to continue to bring great guests to the show and to bring this valuable educational information to peoples attention so that they remain informed and involved.

One last story. When I came to Bandera in March of 2011 I was given the opportunity to pray for the City Council and the County Commissioners in Bandera. From April to December 2011 I performed these duties. Then in December 2011 I was asked not to pray for the city any longer as my prayer was considered “too political”. My prayer was for wisdom and that the light would shine in the darkness. Those who walk in darkness do not want their deeds brought into the light.

George Whitfield said it best when he said and I paraphrase, when we speak and act out our Christianity in the confines of a comfortable religious manner, never challenging and never rebuking we are never confronted. But when we speak the truth and call people to an accountability in their lives before God this will cause us to receive their scorn as Jesus did. 1 Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

God is the one who opened this opportunity after I had thought radio was no longer in the plan. I believe this is a calling and I am seeking the financial support to fulfill this calling.

Current Costs:
Revolution Broadcasting for one hour of air time daily Monday thru Friday
Hill Country Happenings Advertisement
Bandera Bulletin Advertisement
Gas from Bandera to Kerrville
Meal per diem
$30 daily (breakfast and lunch)
On Point Broadcasting (on line streaming video of the show)
$500 per month

That is $3305 per month.

Projected additional casts to expand to San Antonio:

Radio Air Time:

Additional Travel Expenses:

Additional Advertising of show:

New Total:

$9305 per month

Currently 12 minutes out of each hour is dedicated to advertisement. This is taking away from content. Also I spend about 60 to 70% of my time chasing sponsoring which precludes me from devoting more time to show preparation.

My vision would be to reduce the number of sponsor spots to 6 or 8 minutes. These funds could be used for outreach events and to support community issues.

I would like to expand the length of the show and to take the show to a syndicated level. I believe that the quality of the shows production and guests make this a viable option.
